Main Parachute Packer Program
About This Program
The ASCEND Foundation Main Packer Program is a career-entry access program designed to remove the financial and access barriers that prevent capable people from entering parachute packing as a professional role within the skydiving industry. It supports individuals who are new to the sport by fully funding structured instruction, materials, and evaluation required to become a competent, employable main parachute packer. The program is intended to prepare participants to pack parachutes independently for drop zones or sport jumpers, with an emphasis on quality, consistency, and professional responsibility.
This program is not intended as a casual skills-exposure course, but as a structured pathway into professional parachute rigging work. Parachute packing is detail-oriented, physically demanding, and time-sensitive work performed in operational environments. Participants should expect a training experience that reflects those realities, including repetition, feedback, and performance evaluation. By covering instructional costs and providing access to approved training environments, the program helps capable candidates move from no experience to professional readiness with clarity and confidence.
This Program Includes:
Full financial coverage of all training done through an ASCEND ATC (Approved Training Center)
Access to approved training environments and equipment
Hands-on, supervised packing experience with repetition and feedback
Instruction aligned with real-world drop zone operational standards
Preparation to pack independently for drop zones and sport jumpers
If you have the desire to learn and the drive to succeed, this program ensures that cost and confusion are no factor.
Who Is This Program For? ✈
This program is designed for individuals who are interested in entering the skydiving industry through professional parachute packing and are willing to treat packing as skilled, safety-critical work. It is well suited for people who are detail-oriented, physically capable, and comfortable performing repetitive, hands-on tasks in an operational environment. Successful candidates are those who can follow procedures precisely, accept feedback, maintain consistency under time pressure, and take personal responsibility for the quality of their work. No prior skydiving or packing experience is required; this program is intentionally structured to support entry into the industry from the ground up.
This program may not be a good fit for individuals who are unable to meet the physical demands of parachute packing, including prolonged standing, repetitive movements, and handling 45-60lb equipment throughout long days. It is also not appropriate for those seeking a casual or occasional skill, those who cannot commit the time required for intensive training, or those who are uncomfortable with structured instruction, evaluation, and accountability. Parachute packing at a professional level requires discipline, focus, and consistency; applicants who are not prepared for those expectations may find this program to be a poor fit.

All applicants who move forward in the process will participate in an interview with members of ASCEND’s Selection Committee. References are required for this program.
-
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed as organizational capacity allows. Each application is initially screened to confirm baseline eligibility, then reviewed by ASCEND’s Selection Committee using a structured evaluation process. Qualified applicants are invited to interview as part of the review cycle. Because this is a rolling process, review timing may vary based on application volume and program availability.
-
Candidates are selected through a structured review process led by ASCEND’s Selection Committee. Applications are evaluated based on demonstrated commitment, readiness for progression, and alignment with the program’s career-entry intent. Interviews are used to better understand each applicant’s goals, expectations, and ability to meet the demands of professional parachute packing. Selection is competitive, and not all qualified applicants will be selected. Final decisions are made to ensure program resources are directed toward candidates most likely to successfully complete the program and pursue a professional pathway in the industry.
